Breastfeeding support

I remember exactly when I first “met” Caroline. I was a new mom with a 9 month old and totally exhausted. My concerns at this time for my baby were that he wasn’t sleeping, no gaining weight, crying a lot…I was scrolling on my phone to find videos and tips about breastfeeding. I found this video with Caroline explaining that breastfeeding doesn’t make you feel tired. I reached out to her and started my first consultation. It was 7 years ago. I now call her my Guardian Angel because no matter the miles between us she always helped me when I was struggling or when I had doubts. She helped me with my 2 breastfeeding adventures (mastitis, plugged duct…) and she is the only one who told me about tongue and lip ties (even though I had few visits with breastfeeding consultant). More recently, I reached out to her for other symptoms and she told me to bring my youngest to an ENT because she had a big concern about sleep apnea. Again, she was right, he actually had a severe sleep apnea. Caroline is very professional, very well trained and passionate. I share her contact info with my friends who are pregnant because I know she is simply the best!

Myofunctional Therapy story

I am 69 years old and, thanks to Caroline, I realized that I had a restrictive tongue tie. Suffering from a lot of osteoarthritis, I would often wake up with pain at night. I was often exhausted. This also put Caroline on the trail of sleep apnea.

Diagnosed, after a home examination, I used a CPAP from July 2022. My sleep improved, but I wanted to be able to do without this cumbersome machine as soon as possible.

So I started a myofunctional therapy  (MFT) follow-up with Caroline in October 2022 with the goal of having a frenectomy as soon as possible.

Not having been consciously bothered either to speak or to mobilize my tongue (that's what I thought), I discovered an organ that I didn't really know much about, despite being trained to detect restrictive frenulums in babies.

The exercises gradually allowed me to realize the movements that were not correct, the tensions and gaps in the tone of certain parts of the tongue, the opening of the jaw and all the tensions associated with the exercises, at the level of the face, neck, and posture.

I did a follow-up with Caroline, every week, then, gradually, we spaced out the appointments, but I continued the rehabilitation. I wanted to give myself every chance that the frenulum could be well isolated in order to be able to cut it, especially since it was a very posterior frenulum.

The frenectomy took place on March 30, 2023, after 6 months of MFT, and we continued the follow-up postoperatively.

The evolution was spectacular and I was able to do without the CPAP after 3 months. I think my sleep really regularized after 5 months post frenectomy.

Currently, I regularly check the tensions in and around my mouth. Thanks to the exercises and explanations of Caroline, I am very autonomous in the movements to be done regularly.

I very much appreciated the fact that I was listened to and that Caroline followed me in my feelings and difficulties, without judgment and with a lot of kindness. She offers a truly personalized follow-up adapted to the person she meets.

Breastfeeding and tongue tie support

In 2023, we were blessed with a baby girl and my biggest wish was to be able to breastfeed her.

Unfortunately, our daughter was unable to breastfed, despite the help of the nurses. She quickly lost weight. The doctors advised me to switch to formula. I still tried to breastfeed her, but all the techniques and advice I received didn't change anything.

That's when we got in touch with Caroline.

She immediately found out why I couldn't feed her. She had a tongue tie that prevented her from sucking properly. Caroline referred us to a specialist to have it cut. She helped us prepare our daughter for the surgery, she accompanied us and listened to us throughout the process and beyond.

Little by little, thanks to her advice and the exercises she taught us, our baby started to breastfeed regularly, until I was able to give up formula altogether.

Without her help, support and encouragement, I don't know if I would have ever been able to breastfeed my child and I will be eternally grateful to her.
